Club History

The Club was formed in 1988 when a group of car enthusiasts met at the Southland Winery Grape Festival. Harvey Eubanks said, "Let's start a car club", and the rest as they say, is history. There were nine members who joined at the time, some of whom are still active to this very day. The first show was in 1990 at the Carolina Pottery, in Smithfield, NC and registered 204 cars. Funds from this event and subsequent shows have been donated to a  multitude of charitable organizations.

An endowment of $10,000 was set up at Johnston Community College and has grown to $18,000. This money has come directly from the hard work of the clubs members. The interest earned  was enough to give a student a $500 scholarship each year since then. The first check was issued in June of 1995. When the interest wasn't as much as $500, the club made up the difference. A $500 scholarship is to be given to one of  seven high schools in the county each year. We do this in rotation and the schools are chosen alphabetically.

PIctured here, our charter members Harvey & Edna Eubanks. 2009 marked Harvey's 12th year as President. Harvey also served as Vice President in 2003, and a Board Member in 1993, 2000 and 2008. Edna, besides being Harvey's right hand, served as Secretary and Treasurer in 1989 and Secretary again from 1990-92. She was a Board Member 2002-2005, and once again in 2009.

We're so fortunate and thankful to have these devoted workers in our community and club. They have both gone above and beyond for the betterment of our organization, and their contributions are greatly appreciated.
